For those of you who don’t know last week was Volunteer Appreciation Week an important week to recognize the contributions and efforts of volunteers. Cancerconnection.ca has some very special volunteers I would like to introduce you to, we like to refer to them as Community Mentors.
Community Mentors are dedicated members with high levels of activity on Cancerconnection.ca that have firsthand experience with cancer as either a patient themselves or a caregiver/loved one.
Mentors are chosen because they are welcoming, informative, and empathetic to other members of the community. They volunteer their time to ensure that all new members receive a warm welcome and help insure Cancerconnection is a friendly place for people to ask questions and share their experiences. They work behind the scenes to support the moderation team with their efforts.
Mentors are knowledgeable and passionate about the discussions they take part in and have personal experience to share. Mentors also provide key feedback that contributes to improving the community platform.
Cancerconnection.ca is a better place because of our dedicated community members who help us ensure that no person has to face cancer alone. The Cancerconnection Team is so thankful to have the support of our Community Members who watch over the community with caring eyes, and support us in our efforts to have a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive community.
Thank you so much for sharing your personal journeys and challenges in order to help others. We are so grateful!
Many of you will recognize our Community Mentors from their kind voices in the community and this will not be the first time you’re meeting them.
