I am a 67 year old wife, mother of 4 and grandmother of 3. I was diagnosed with ER Negative, HER2 Positive IDC breast cancer in May. Since diagnosis I have had a lumpectomy and a mastectomy (same breast) and have undergone 4 rounds of A/C chemo and have had 8 of 12 rounds of Taxol/Herceptin. I should be starting radiation in early January and will continue the IV Herceptin every 21 days until next September. So far so good, everything has gone fairly smoothly (apart from getting bronchial pneumonia during chemo). Luckily my side effects have been minimal, mostly I just feel tired and, unfortunately, I can become short tempered on occasion, and that I feel really bad about. Trying to find out more about my type of BC has been difficult. I did read somewhere that only about 5% of women have this type but I am not sure about that. I am looking forward to exchanging ideas and support with others on this website and am so glad I found it.
