Anyone know of a resource for children age 11 to help them understand about cancer in relatives so they are less fearful?

Hi Trillium

Never an easy thing, talking to kids about cancer.
Sometimes their pragmatic innocence is oddly refreshing and optimistic though!

There is a good list of books here:

Thank you, ashcon‍ - My 11 yr old grandson is having a lot of anxiety about cancer. This should be helpful for his mom to find a way to talk about it.
ashcon‍ - WOW what a great list of resources! Thank you for sharing.

Trillium‍ - I'm sorry to hear your Grandson is having anxiety. I hope the resources help. I often find it helpful to read books geared towards kids, to help me in how I speak to kids about cancer.

Here is some information for the adults in his life:
Talking to children about cancer - Canadian Cancer Society
Coping – Talking to Children about Cancer - National Cancer Institute

Lacey_Moderator‍ - Thank you. I was thinking the same as she mentioned that he may not want to listen to a story anymore. The changes happen fast at this age. There is some unhealthy drama going on with his dads side of the family with cancer and they are divorced so it can be hard for her to help him sometimes.
