Free counselling for family and the individual

Posted by AF on Jun 24, 2019 1:48 pm

Hi there,

I am looking for a counselor or a free support worker for emotional support using MSP for one individual in Richmond BC who is newly diagnosed.
Do you know who/where I can reach out and what are steps the individual and the family have to take??

If you know anyone, please help me!!

Thank you!!

Hello AF

Thank you for reaching out. The hospital ( Richmond General? ) will have a social worker available or the cancer centre - BC Cancer in Vancouver, has counselling for those that are diagnosed and their family/caregiver. Both are free of charge

RGH - main switchboard - (604) 278-9711
BC Cancer family counseling - http://www.bccancer.bc.ca/our-services/services/supportive-care/patient-family-counselling

Please let me know if this is not what you are looking for.

You can also call our Cancer Information Service at 1-888--939-3333 for local resources
