MS Symptoms or Tumor

Ive received a diagnosis from my family doctor of MS, however it was done over the phone as he looked at my MRI for the first time. I’m not saying it’s wrong, however having done a little research I’m not sure the symptoms match MS.

The main symptom I have is headaches that have progressively got worse and floaters that have remained pretty consistent over 6 weeks. It appears from the reading that MS in general attacks tend to be shorter in length

I have had a couple of other symptoms like random leg pain, muscle contractions, tingling in extremities and a warm sensation in my legs.

I also had stomach issues and back pain that seems to be improved over the last few weeks.

Has anyone had an MS possibility prior to diagnosis?

Appreciate any opinions or thoughts.

Brit_in_Canada‍  It is difficult to comment on a confusing diagnosis.  What is your team's next step? Are you being referred to an  MS specialist?  Or are you still working with an oncologist?  Did they suggest how they plan to determine a final diagnosis?  Are you booked for more tests?

Brit_in_Canada‍ hi there (from a fellow Brit in Canada)...

I’m sorry to hear you have a diagnosis of MS, it’s a disease my sister has been living with for more than 15 years. She was diagnosed after having a range of symptoms which were checked out through an MRI. The MRI should have been accompanied by a report from the radiologist who is a specialist in looking at images and making diagnoses. In MS, they are looking for damage to the myelin sheath along the central nervous system and lesions in the brain, and they make the diagnosis based on the images and the symptoms you present. Could you ask your doctor for a copy of the MRI report?

There is nothing wrong with asking for a second opinion too, someone else to take a look at your MRI and see if they agree with your diagnosis.

It’s a shock hearing that you have a condition that is not going to get better, and that you are going to have to learn to live with but help is out there. Have you checked out MS Society?

I hope you can get some clarity soon, let us know how you get on.

best wishes Essjay
