Breast reconstruction using the Latissimus Dorsi Flap

Hi, I had a Bi-Lateral Mastectomy Feb/21 and my surgeon recommended waiting a year before considering reconstruction. I meet with the plastic surgeon a few weeks ago and my only option is the Latissimus Dorsi Flap. The reason being I had radiation on my left breast and the muscle would’ve been damaged so they would have to take that back muscle and move forward. Is there anyone on here who has had this procedure and how have you been doing? I work out and use weights and was worried about not having the same mobility in my arms after. Any information you can provide, I’d greatly appreciate.

I want to introduce you to @Hezz who has undergone the surgery for Latissimus Dorsi flap surgery. Perhaps she can share her experience with you.

Reconstruction types

Not sure of your timelines as far as reconstruction goes but in October there is a BRA ( Breast Reconstruction Awareness ) Day where there are plastic surgeons who speak on different types of surgery along with women who have had different kinds of surgeries. It has been online last 2 years and not sure what the plan is for this year. We always share the details here when they are available.
