Hepatic hemangioma or liver mets?

Hepatic hemangioma or liver mets?

Posted by TorUkie on Mar 3, 2020 3:40 pm

Not sure which forum to post this in, considering my tumour was very rare (PEComa, a sub-type of soft tissue sarcoma).

I just went for my first quarterly checkup and the CT scan suggests I have a 1.3 cm lesson with a few peripheral nodules in my liver. It is suggestive of hemangioma (which is benign and common), but they don't know for sure so they are not excluding mets. Anyone else here has dealt with something similar?

Obviously, terrified, as I have a history with what everyone thought were benign fibroids turning out to be a rare cancer.   Also, have an appointment with my sarcoma specialist on Friday, so will have more clarity on follow up.

Thanks!

TorUkie‍

I type hemangioma into the "search the community" window. Goodtogo‍ and Whitelilies‍ both briefly mention dealing with this themselves in posts.

I've tagged them into this post.

Let us know what you discover during your consult.

Hello
Thank you ACH2015‍ for the tag.
I will share what I "know" of haemangioma (did I spell that correctly lol?)
I had a MRI for Liver. (And an earlier MRI for Colon)
When I finally saw my oncologist for the results, he said "You have Haemangioma on the Liver......it is like a BIRTHMARK".

Dr said not to worry.  I was not told of its' size.  He too said it is quite common and BENIGN.

Sorry, this is all I know/experienced with haemangioma.

I wish you strength! I wish you well.  We are ALL here to help one another.

Regards
Whitelilies

Thank you, RaylineWhiteliliesACH2015‍  This is very helpful and somewhat reassuring.  I am talking to my oncologist on Friday, so will have to ask the questions. I appreciate having access to reports online, but the wait between that, and seeing a doctor is hard.  At least I will know which questions to ask.

H.

It seems to me I have heard the same thing as Whitelilies‍  regarding it being like a "birth mark" on my liver

Let us know what you find out at your appointment

Hi Laides, thanks a lot for checking on me. Very much appreciated - and hope you are doing well.

haven't been spending as much time on the site, with covid-19 and all the other things.  Things are ok on my end. I have just had my second scan with the reports coming in yesterday. Mostly, the news is very good - all the lesions in lungs and liver are stable and are considered benign (!!!). The diagnosis of hemangioma (the topic of this original post) got confirmed with an ultarsound back in March.  So, as of now, no recurrence!!!

The one thing that has just come up is a small breast enhancing nodule on the last CT scan. I just got a call from PMH to explore it further and am waiting for the appointment at the rapid diagnostic breast clinic. Trying not to panic.

It is never dull, I must say.

Nice to hear from you. Great news on the lesions side of it for sure! That must feel a bit better eh?
As to the breast nodule, I think of it as they saw something and want to further investigate. It is them being thorough. I have had many things checked and double checked in the 9 years since I have finished treatment. It is part of them doing their due diligence. Wise not to panic.

Let us know how it goes.
Take care
