I have a current co-worker who has a son (middle school age) who has had his leg amputated because of Cancer. Late 2019 he got the good news, 5 years Cancer free. During his chemo, they were told that one of the rare side effects ( 1 in a million) was leukemia. His mom recently noticed he was "not his usual self" and decided to take him to the Doctor. They did blood work and his white blood cells were non-existent. He's has now been diagnosed with leukemia.
Horrible that a child has to go through this.
