Possible Tonsil Cancer, don’t feel like I’m being heard

For several months I felt as though there was something stuck in my throat near my tonsil and presented a single large tonsil. I was referred to an ENT who looked in my mouth and prescribed me ant acids. I returned to the same ENT a month later with the same concerns and they scoped me. They stated they could not see anything of concern and stated surgery could be an option. I agreed and a date was set many months down the road.

8 months later the surgery came. Unfortunately I had a different ENT perform the surgery with no knowledge of my condition. The tonsils were not saved or sent in for biopsy.

2 months later I have recovered from my tonsillectomy and the sensation has reappeared and comes from where my tonsil pillar used to be. The area seems bumpier and more raised compared to the other side. Also several white raised circles have appeared on that site. Ear pain has now appeared and comes and goes along with fevers. I have been to 3 ENTs and 12 doctors at this point and no one has had an answer for me and I continually get brushed off because of my age. All I wasn’t is a biopsy or a scan to put my mind at ease.

My fear is that the cancer was missed and has now begun to spread more aggressive since the operation. I really wish the tonsil was sent in for biopsy.

Have you contacted the ENT specialist that performed the surgery? This to me is where I would seek some answers to the return of old symptoms and the new ones you mention. Try to get a referral to see them and hopefully get the answers and tests you seek. Perhaps your GP could be of assistance here as well.

Hope this helps

I have been to them twice and they brush off my symptoms telling me I’m fine.

I am sorry to learn both your GP and the ENT specialist that did the surgery are part of the problem.

I hope you find a way to get the needed answers.

Keep well
