I've been on weightwatchers (WW) for a few years now, lost 40, gained 10 over COVID, but starting down again and I stay with it for accountability. My question - does anyone know if I can stay on WW with cancer? Or is it not recommended? I googled but could only find US info, and nobody specifically had the answer. Wondering if concentrated weight loss is a bad idea? I'm still early days but maybe there's a point where I should pause?
I congratulate you on your weight loss and your determination to stay the course. You may find you have difficulties with food if you are going to be having chemo - as in you may not feel much like eating or food may taste different or slightly metallic. Typically the oncologist doesn't want you losing weight during chemo, and the steroids' they give you may actually make you gain weight.
This would be a good discussion to have with your cancer centre nutritionist/dietitian. You could ask your oncologist or their nurse to get you an appointment.
