Bloodwork and Platelet count

Bloodwork and Platelet count

Posted by Princesta on Nov 10, 2020 9:19 am

I'm back again, I had breast cancer in late 2017 and had a lumpectomy.  I just got my blood tested as my hair is falling out for some reason . I'm not doing chemo or radiation or being treated for cancer at this time.
My bloodwork is back I know the results and I do have a doctor apt wednesday. I got my results from dyna care. My platelet count is high as well at my white blood cells and my WBC is high too. I'm not sick at all . But I'm so tired and not a normal tired . I have been tired for about three months anyway.
I had a mammogram in Aug and it came back ok. I'm worried the cancer has spread into my blood now.
Has anyone else had this issue and it turned out to be cancer . I just don't have a good feeling inside
I need some advice or suggestions
Thankyou

Princesta‍  Welcome back. I am sorry you are experiencing new symptoms but pleased to learn you have had tests and will get results tomorrow.  Look after yourself today,  don't speculate,  as our minds tend to jump all over the place. I was so relieved when I found out my treatment plan. Whatever happens we are here to support you.  Can you let us know how your appointment goes please?

Update
I'm going for blood smears and a chest xray then a specialist. He is checking me for lymphoma and lukemia. He thought he felt a lump in my armpit. So this news is pretty upsetting for me . my cancer may be back , not even two years after my breast cancer. People that have this LCIS Should have bloodtests more regularly. Thank god I had bloodwork done as my hair was thinning or I wouldn't know about any of this .
I'm scared as both of these cancers are not good.
So tired

Princesta‍ unsettling news for you that’s for sure. It sounds like you are being thoroughly checked out.

one day at a time, one test at a time you will get closer to the answer as to what’s wrong xx

I just got my second bloodtest back off of Dyna care . I'm worried. My platelet count is even higher, it was 429 now its 529x10x9. My blood smears are abnormal as well. Sedimentation rate is high as well. I hope I get sent to a specialist. I feel so tired like a walking zombie. I'm sick of feeling this way. Once and a while I have tingling in my knees right down to my ankles when I'm walking , this can't be normal either.
Anyone else have platelets really high and symptoms like this? I wish I knew what was wrong with me. I know it takes time . trying not to worry.

Hi Princesta‍
I am obviously not  any medical guy. I believe your specialist will soon find out the root cause (breast cancer recurrence, lymphoma, lukemia or something else) of your blood issue. I only wonder if you should first be treated with aspirin for the high blood platelet.

From thread - high platelet levels
"Has anyone suffered with high platelet levels. I have just recovered from an infection after my second cycle of taxotere and my platelet levels are high. I have been given aspirin and omeprezanole to help with the clotting process but am experiencing side effects such as loose bowels and anxiety. Just had another blood test and hopefully the platelet levels have come down. "

" When you say high do you know how high? Has this occurred only after second taxotere? As I expect you've been told an infection can raise the platelet count.
I'm not aware that high platelets or your meds would cause loose bowels - this is more likely to be the chemo and the anxiety.
Your blood may clot more easily with high platelets hence the aspirin as precautionary measure.... "

I haven't been diagnosed with cancer yet. Doctor thought he felt a lump in my arm pit. I also felt it when I returned home. Platelet count went up higher and smears are abnormal. My bloodwork has now been sent to a hemotologist. Now I wait another 48 hours.
