Waiting, waiting

Waiting, waiting

Posted by Abgirl9 on Feb 26, 2020 9:26 am

Hi, new here.  Been having bowel issues for the last few months.. pain and bleeding when I go.. going alot every day.  The only history I have, is my mom has Crohns, and my grandpa died of colon cancer (he was in his 90s though)

Went to my GP at the beginning of Jan.  She said it was probably an internal fissure and gave me some ointment.  She sent me for some bloodwork and referred me to a GI.  The bloodwork came back with high CRP levels and a high wbc count.
The GI doc just sent all the colonoscopy info in the mail.  And it's not until the end of April.
I went last week to see my GP again and she said it's now hemmroids since I'm going alot.  More cream

I just hate waiting.. I called to see if they have a cancelation list for the colonoscopy but they dont.  I assume that 3 months is the usual wait?
I mean it could be anything at this point.  It's just the waiting that sucks

Abgirl9‍  Welcome. I am so sorry you find yourself here. It looks like you haven't met your GI doc. Can you get a face to face meeting?  You need to make sure he understands your family history.  The wait time for tests vary by community. My wait time is a year for a routine colonoscopy. In your case, I would try to push a little harder. You have made a great start by asking for a cancellation.  Keep trying to move your test forward by whatever means you can. Family history and symptoms are great ammunition.
Waiting is so hard. Hopefully your test results will be a simple fix. In the meantime keep busy. Ask your doctor what dietary things you can do to give you some relief.
Healing takes time and opportunity. Wendy Tea

Abgirl9‍  Glad to see you have connected with Wendy Tea‍ .  I think she is absolutely right:  the wait time depends on your province and region.  As you say, Abgirl, it could be anything.  It may not be cancer. So try not to get ahead of yourself.
In 2016: diagnosed with stage 2 ovarian cancer. Treatment: hysterectomy, chemo, radiation. Afterwards: No Evidence of Disease!

I am new here but feel like I am in a similar situation as you are. I have 2 lumps , one is a cyst but the other, that I can’t feel is suspicious. Radiology said wait until Dec for a follow up with them, which would include my ultrasound appointment. But no one has touched me, examined me. I don’t know my family history because of being adopted and lack of info being shared.... and appointments to a specialist for breast health and testing for genes..... well they aren’t coming as quickly as I had initially thought. So in having said all of this, keep on it, keep calling if you have to. It’s your body and your life!
