Hi everyone.
I have been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. My chemotherapy is expected to start in 2 to 3 weeks and I might go off work. I have no private insurance as I was a new immigrant in Canada and did not know about various options.
I did not qualify for critical life insurance after my diagnosis . But now I have bought guaranteed life insurance from Canada Protection Plan and IA.
My main question right now is what options do I have right now when I go off work. I have talked to my employer to put me on payroll so that I can be eligible for EI sickness benefits. If that won’t happen I don’t see any other source of income.
Can anybody help me on this about available options in my case.
Thanking in anticipation.
Regards

Can2021,
I am sorry to read about your diagnosis. Do you have a start date yet for the chemotherapy? We will be here to support you as you go through treatments.
With regards to your financial concerns, I wonder if someone at the Canadian Centre For Refugee & Immigrant Healthcare may be able to direct you to helpful resources:
