Joanne, I felt exactly as you did -- will I be marked for life as a breast cancer survivor? Just one more thing... But it is really only 3-4 dots. They look like freckles, nothing more. Now, I can barely find the dots they made. Don't fret. It's nothing. You'll not feel anything, and you'll ot see much at all after. Winnie

Hello,
I'm sure by now you will have received your radiation tattoos. For me, it felt like a small pin prick. They do look like freckles but everytime I notice one, it reminds me of my journey with breast cancer...it also reminds me of how lucky I am to have been able to start my mammograms at age 42 and not 50. If I had waited until I was 50, the cancer would have had 1 more year to grow before being discovered. I am here today and alive because of early mammograms. So, for me, the radiation tattoos are just a small part of this journey.
Have you started radiation? How many treatments are your receiving? If you need any experience sharing, let me know.
Good luck and stay strong.

Well believe it or not, I have not started. I am waiting for an app't with my MO on March 14. We sent a pathology sample to the states for the Onco DX typing and then I will know for sure whether I will be getting chemo. He is optimistic that I will not but this is a test (and part of a study) that is offered to women who are in the gray area. I have met the RO and go on March 19th for a CT scan and tattoo and planning. On the assumption that I will not need chemo I will start radiation on April 10th -- and depending on the results of the CT scan, I will have either 16 or 25 sessions. Everything in small steps. Thanks so much for your note.

Hi Joanne, I have just finished 16 rads, the tattoos didn't hurt anymore than getting a blood test and are barely visible. yes small steps indeed, they've helped me too :)

I went today for my CT scan and tattoos -- and it was just like a little pin prick - no pain at all. They aren't where I thought they would be really but that is ok -- 4 in all.
I should start radiation on April 10th - the RO is accomodating a trip to Florida I had booked last fall. One more step closer.

Glad your tattoos weren't painful :) My last rad session was a month ago and I'm feeling good. Hope you enjoy Florida.
